Why 108 Bows

We have 6 doors of perception: sight, sound, smell, touch, taste and thought.
There are
3 aspects of time: past, present and future.
There are
2 conditions of the heart/mind: pure or impure.
There are
3 possible attitudes: like, dislike and indifference.

Korean Buddhists use this formula 6 x 3 x 2 x 3 = 108 bows to cut through our Karma.

I like the 108 Bows very much myself. I was going to try to get in touch with the author of the article you mentioned, "johnny on the road", but it seems his commenting is not correctly enabled. I wanted to ask him if he minded that I reprinted the list as well on a site I am basing entirely on the list.

I am hoping that, given the spirit with which I am doing it, I will have the blessings of you, johnny, and the spirit from which the wisdom originally sprang forth.

Hi Wu Ti,

I'm not sure if I got your comment - I moderate the comments so not all of them end up published. Sorry if I missed yours!

I just saw this comment now, so it's probably a moot point, but consider this my blessing!

The list is for any and all who need it. I don't own any rights to it :)
