Precepts

We had our first one day retreat in our shared facility at Sangha Center and it turned out very nice. Everyone pitched in to setup the room and to make it feel as much like a Zen Center as we could. The entire group sat very well and the participation was very strong.

Two students took the 5 Precepts, Chris Hoff and Chris Mefford. Also, David Twicken took the 5 Precepts with Greg LeBlanc, SDPS in Berkeley. Our family has now grown to 10 who have taken precepts and we will have 3 more added to the family at the end of the month. We currently have 23 members of our growing Sangha. Congratulations to all, may we all grow in the Dharma. To see all of the pictures click here HB Precepts and Retreat

Hello Uku,

Thanks so much, this means a lot to me and thanks for the support. I know you understand what it means to build a Sangha and this is the third incarnation of try mind to build a Sangha which started in 1991 for me. It is important to not attach to groups, people, doctrines or directions. It is important to find you true self and follow your path without any hindrance.

Great pics Rev. Paul! I love watching Sangha's grow, it's truly amazing.

Are you affiliated with the Zen Center of Las Vegas as well? I will be visiting them next week.

Hi Shindo,

How are things with your group up in Carson City, I hope well. You said you are visiting the Zen Center of Las Vegas (aka: Great Bright Zen Center.) This is great there are many good people there practicing.

You also asked if we are affiliated with ZCLV, and the answer to that would be no, many years ago we were but they are members of the Kwan Um School of Zen and I have gone independent.

However, Thom Pastor, JDPSN, who is the Guiding Teacher there, is still my best friend. He and I started together and both opened our Zen Centers at the same time, so we supported each other and have traveled all over the US together practicing and doing retreats.

If you see Thom, say hi for me and I hope you get to meet him.

Mumun,

Thanks, and how is your group doing? Didn't Soeng Hyang ZM lead a retreat there recently. Oh, by the way have you run into Morgan Riley out your way, I haven't heard from him in years and I got wind he might be somewhere out there in the South West.

Thank you Rev. Paul, things are going great here in Carson. We have another 1-day sitting scheduled and Kwong-roshi's son, Demian, will be coming over from SMZC to lead it for us.. it's been really exciting.

Thanks for the info about ZCLV, I will make sure to give my best to him when I see him... I look forward to sitting with their Sangha.

Shindo
